Finals week
It is almost finals week, and you can tell that people have been studying really hard and putting in work. Last night I stayed up until 5 AM studying. It in't even finals week yet. The weird thing is, both of my finals are on monday. Then after that it's just papers that I need to turn in to my professors. This weekend will be quite interesting. I am known to be a procrastinator, but this weekend I can't really afford to do that. So we shall see how it works out for me. I plan on being in the library for quite some time, everyday. The good news, after this week and next, the semester is over.. what a relief.

Hitting the gym
Today I went to the gym with my friends. My friend B-ho (Benjamin Frances Hollowinski) wore just a basketball jersey to the gym. It was one of the greatest outfits I've seen in the gym this year. People wear all sorts of clothing to the gym but never have I seen a throwback Ben wallace jersey from the pistons (original red jersey). To add to the beautiful jersey he was wearing, his flow was top-notch. The curls were unbeatable. The jersey and the hair were all tied together with the Nike mid-calves he was wearing. Pure swag.
Mid calves.
I am not sure if you are familiar with Mid-calves. They are a type of socks, that go half way up your calve muscle. They are my first choice of sock when I awake in the morning. I have always wondered, Why would one wish for their ankles to be frigid? I choose mid-calves due to the fear of my ankles becoming cold after I walk outside. They are also great for absorbing sweat around your shoes while at the gym. They also look amazingly swag'd out when you where them. It is a necessity when i get dressed in the morning. If there are no mid-calves in my drawer, I begin to feel like it is going to be a terrible, long day ahead of me. When it comes to brand names, Nike is the only way to go. They make excellent socks and shoes. So next time you choose you underwear for your shoes.... CHOOSE MID-CALVES!

English
I am looking forward to the last essay assignment in our class, it should be quite interesting just like all the other ones were. I am also looking forward to moving on to second semester. It'll feel nice to have all new classes, I like the classes I have now. I just don't enjoy the schedule I have them planned out. There are too many classes that are too close together. On tuesdays and thursdays I am gone from 10 am until 5 pm and that gives me just enough time to eat in-between classes. I don't like to feel rushed like that so it will be a great feeling to have a schedule that i really enjoy.

11.6.11
This weekend I went home for the first time in about a month, it was a weird feeling to be home at first. But it was also really nice. I hadn't got to see what fall looks like in my home ton yet. It was really beautiful. I also got to get in touch with my old friends that I hadn't seen in a while. What I got out of this experience put me in a good mood to finish up the semester with a positive attitude. I am looking forward to finishing this semester, because I believe I have a really good schedule for next semester. Also the winter i almost hear, and snowboarding is one of my favorite hobbies. I really like Western so far but it was great to visit home for one weekend.

Fairytales
Last week in class, we began learning about and reading fairytales. I was not a huge fan of fairytales at first, because I always thought a lot of them taught the same lesson, or had too much repetition. My views have changed a little bit since I read the fairytales that we were assigned. I didn't realize how different the original stories were from the revised ones that are read to kids. In my opinion, the original stories are told better than the newer ones. It has a lot more meaning and power when the author does not censor the material for the younger viewers. That way the point comes across a lot stronger to the reader. I am excited to learn more about fairytales in class.

Thesis Statement
Thesis statements are not a very large challenge for me. Usually if I know what my topic is, I can come up with a thesis pretty quickly. It may need revising, like most writings, but that is normal. It is the main paper that I usually have trouble with, after the thesis. A Thesis statement is simply the basis of what you are writing your paper off of. It doesn't control the entire paper, just begins it. The essay itself has many different parts to it, that you can change and make your own. But most thesis statements are just the, a statement. That later is turned into an explanation. It is very versatile, a question, or just something to introduce your wiring. Whatever it may be. The better you write it, with an open end, the easier it will be to write the essay after it.

Carrie
The movie "Carrie" is very interesting, though I can not say I enjoyed the movie. I found it very disturbing. I wasn't sure if it was trying to be scary, or just very weird. I have seen many horror films but none gave me the reaction that "Carrie" did. There were a lot of twists in the movie that I didn't see coming. Like most horror films these days, they are very easy to predict. I did however predict that something would go wrong at prom for carrie, which it did. I did not expect her to kill every single person in there with her powers, however. I wasn't sure what the writer of the film was thinking. Because that doesn't leave anyone left, except sue and the gym teacher not dead. I don't know why that bothered me so much. I just have never seen anything like that movie, and probably never will again.

Engkent's mother
I believe it would benefit Engkent's mother to learn english, simply because she desires to live in a enlist speaking country for the rest of her life. Although she is very old, and as you get older, it gets more difficult to learn a new language, and if she does want to learn the language. Then it makes it that much more difficult to persuade her to learn the language. But if she did learn english it would benefit her greatly and make living in canada much more pleasant.

Weekend
This weekend was not like any other weekend at college. I didn't party, I didn't study, and I didn't sit inside. I went camping with my FYE class, and it was a lot of fun. We actually got 200 points of credit just for going on the trip with our class. So it was fun and worth class point. win, win situation indeed. The only thing I didn't like is that it rained almost the entire weekend, good thing we slept in cabins. We did quite a few team building, and communication type activities. Like the rock wall and a high-ropes course. That was pretty scary but also a ton of fun. I don't think I would do it again because of the rain. But it was defiantly a change of pace from every other weekend here.

language Differences
In class we discussed language styles and differences for a portion of the day. This made me think about when I was a freshman in high school. My girlfriend at that time was from germany, she spoke fluent english and had lived in America since she was 9 years old. Though she spoke english to me, her parents still spoke "deutsch" aka German to her. It was quite interesting to go over to her house and hear them speak it to each other. The only thing weird was, i was once talking with her and her parents, and all the sudden her parents would turn to her and begin speaking German. This got me quite paranoid. Later I asked her what they were saying, and she simply said that they misunderstood what I was saying to them.

Where I am from.
Where I am from, work is not work, its
money, its fun (in the end), its everything I wanted.
At the end of the long day, I would drive home, and see everything I saw when I was younger.
Just this time I see it differently.
I don't see the park as a play structure, its a sports palace.
I don't see my neighbors as old people, I see them as more workers.
Just like me. I grew up in a wonderful place where I thought everything was perfect.
I still think that way, just this time I can appreciate it more. Live it up while I can.
Because I know, where I am from, is not where I will stay.

About Sean
My name is Sean Cowman,
I am a freshman at Western Michigan University, who enjoys playing sports, or just doing anything outside. I also like to consider myself a hard worker, though I love procrastinating, I still know how to get stuff done when it needs to be done. I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I loved there all my life until I came to college, I do miss my home own but I also believe in moving on to bigger and better things. that's why I am here, to turn over a new leaf and experience what the rest of the world has to offer.. I can't wait to see what is in store for me.
